FAQ
1. Recovery from what? Just eating disorders? Or anything?
It is a recover from anything Tumblr. I started it with that in mind. Not only are there many thinspo blogs out there, but there are a ton of blogs that are triggering and offer no hope. In fact, they do the exact opposite. Instead of saying ‘things will get better’ they say ‘they never will’. I’m here to say they will get better, and that you don’t need to be surrounding yourself with those negative messages. Yes, it will take time for things to get better, but they will get better.
Some of the posts are geared towards eating disorders. Not all are, though. Eating disorders are often co-morbid with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, self-injury…they all go together. I have a feeling that you will be hard-pressed to find a person who is struggling with only an eating disorder. If they have an eating disorder, they are probably struggling with other stuff, as well.
So go ahead and submit your own reasons. They do not have to be only about recovering from ED. Whatever you are in recovery for, whether it be addiction, depression, abuse, or something else, what are your reasons for recovering? Tell me. I want to know, and I’m sure other people do, too. Submissions can be anonymous.
2. So…. are just gonna stop posting once you’ve gotten 100 reasons down?
I will continue posting reasons for as long as reasons are being submitted. If that goes beyond 100, then that is absolutely amazing, and I will continue past 100.
3. How do I submit things for challenges?
In order for your challenge submission to be considered for publication, you must email it to 100rtrsubmissions@gmail.com. Replies through Tumblr to the challenge post cannot be considered for publication, and neither can submissions sent through the ask box. In order for your name to be attached to your submission, you must include it in the body of the email. Otherwise, it is assumed that you want your name to remain anonymous. For more information about challenges, go here.
4. Is there a deadline for Challenges?
As of now, there is no deadline for any of the challenges. You may submit things for any and all of the challenges that have been posted thus far. I will announce the deadline at least two weeks in advance. To view all challenges, go here.
5. How do I submit things to the book?
Send your original artwork, stories, poems, photographs, songs, and anything else that you have created, to 100rtrsubmissions@gmail.com . Make sure to follow the Submission Guidelines, which can be found here. More information about the book can be found here.
6. What do you mean you aren’t in recovery? Were you in recovery but are recovered? Do you have nothing to recover from, or are you just not seeking recovery?
I mean that I have nothing to recover from. I have never had an eating disorder. I have been lucky enough to never experience depression or abuse, and I have not struggled with addiction. I have an amazing family and awesome friends, and I have been mostly content with my life for as long as I can remember. I’m fine and have always been fine. I have friends who have not been so lucky, and so I am here to fight for them. They don’t deserve these struggles, just like you don’t, but here they are having to fight them, all the same, and I love them very much, so I want to help them. It also kind of makes me really really angry how these issues are stigmatized, stereotyped, and trivialized, and so I want to change that, but I won’t go into that, since that’s a whole other question.
7. I feel betrayed that you aren’t suffering from anything. You have no idea what it’s like to be like this. Just because your friends are suffering doesn’t mean that you understand it. What gives you the right to run a blog like this?
